Local whistlers are in for a treat at the Romford Referees’ Society’s monthly meeting, to be held tomorrow at Harold Wood Sports Pavilion at 8pm.

The guest speaker is to be Dagenham & Redbridge manager Wayne Burnett.

Burnett is a former England youth international who commenced his League career at Leyton Orient and has played in the Premier League for Bolton Wanderers.

He was the assistant manager at the Daggers before taking charge in February when former boss John Still moved to Luton Town.

He preserved Dagenham’s Football League status last season and has guided them into a promising position this term. The meeting is open to all local referees and others considering taking up the whistle.
