Defender returns to club on one-year deal
Dagenham & Redbridge boss Peter Taylor has made his first signing of the summer with the addition of defender Gavin Hoyte on a one-year deal.
Hoyte is no stranger to Daggers, having previously played for the Essex club between 2012 and 2014.
The full-back is equally no stranger to Taylor too, having signed for him while he was in charge of Gillingham following the end of his previous spell with the Victoria Road outfit.
The Trinidad & Tobago international joins on a free transfer from National League rivals Eastleigh, where he made 31 appearances in all competitions last season.
Hoyte told the club website: “I spoke to Peter not too long ago and he told me what is happening.
“I know the club is in a bit of a difficult situation at the minute, so it is time for me to step up and bring what I can to the club.”
Taylor added: “At 28 years of age, Gavin has played a lot of football so has got some good experience.
“He can play in three or four different positions and he is the type of player that we need in our situation.
“We need somebody with a bit more experience and somebody that can cover gaps for us.
“He is a very good professional and I am asking him to be a bit more vocal than what he would probably be in his career.
“I am delighted to have him, and he is the type that we are going to need.”
