Vanarama National League: Halifax Town 2 (Kosylo 29, Edwards 59) Dagenham & Redbridge 1 (Adeloye 33)

Dagenham & Redbridge’s wait for a first win of the season continues after going down 2-1 at Halifax Town in the Vanarama National League.

Daggers boss Peter Taylor made three changes for the trip to The Shay, but retained the 3-4-3 formation.

Ben Goodliffe, available after suspension, came into the side, as did Lamar Reynolds and Chike Kandi.

Top scorer Elliott Romain dropped to the bench, while Harry Phipps and Harry Donovan missed out on the matchday squad altogether.

The Essex club fell behind in the 29th minute when Halifax hit Daggers on the break following a corner, with Matty Kosylo netting.

However, Taylor’s men were behind for just four minutes as Tomi Adeloye volleyed home to draw the Victoria Road outfit level with his first goal for the club.

The sides went into the break level, but Halifax regained the lead in the 59th minute when Jonathan Edwards flicked a header from colleague Nathan Clarke into the net.

That proved to be the decisive goal, with Daggers unable to find a route back into the game to take something from their trip to Yorkshire.

The Essex club return home on Saturday when they welcome Hartlepool United to Victoria Road.

Halifax (4-4-2): Johnson; Hanson, Brown, Clarke, Sellers; Kosylo, Edwards (Preston 83), Lenighan, Maher; Tomlinson, Southwell.

Subs: Rowley (GK), King, Odelusi, McLeod.

Daggers (3-4-3): Justham; Davey, Goodliffe, Pennell (Hoyte 74); McQueen, Robinson, Wright, Gordon; Kandi (Romain 61), Adeloye, Reynolds (Leighton 83).

Subs: Moore (GK), Bonds.

Referee: Leigh Doughty.
