Vanarama National League: Dover Athletic 0 Dagenham & Redbridge 2 (Adeloye 11, Phipps 44)

Dagenham & Redbridge clambered out of the relegation zone in the Vanarama National League with a 2-0 victory at Dover Athletic.

Goals in the first half from Tomi Adeloye and Harry Phipps gave Daggers the ascendancy in Kent.

The Essex club came under plenty of pressure from the Whites after the interval, but held on for a second win in succession.

Daggers boss Peter Taylor made just one change to his starting XI following Saturday’s win at home to Harrogate Town.

Recent addition Nathan Smith, who made his debut at the weekend, dropped out of the starting line-up and was replaced in the XI by Luke Pennell.

The Essex club took the lead in the 11th minute when Tomi Adeloye netted his first league goal since joining in the summer.

A long ball forward by keeper Elliot Justham was flicked on by the forward to Angelo Balanta, who returned the ball Adeloye before he slotted in the bottom corner.

Daggers were able to double their advantage in the 44th minute, with Harry Phipps another to net his first league goal for the club.

Jack Munns whipped a dangerous corner into the box, with Phipps on hand to head home from six yards.

That ensured the Victoria Road outfit led by two at the break, but the visitors came under mounting pressure in the second half.

Jamie Allen, Inih Effiong and Bobby-Joe Taylor were among those to go close for the Whites in the second half, but a strong rearguard action from Daggers kept them ahead.

And with Maidstone United draw at Ebbsfleet United, the victory in Kent allowed the Victoria Road side to clamber out of the bottom four, but only on goal difference.

Daggers head to Sutton United on Saturday looking for a third league win in succession.

Daggers: Justham, Nunn, Robinson, Pennell, McQueen, Balanta (Donovan 87), Goodliffe, Phipps, Adeloye (Mullings 90+1), Munns (Reynolds 79), Onariase.
