National League: Barnet 2 Dagenham & Redbridge 1
De ja vu for Dagenham & Redbridge as they let another 0-1 lead slip and fall to a second 2-1 defeat in a week this time against Barnet.
A goal in the first minute of the match from Elliott Romain was cancelled out by goals from Wesley Fonguck and Jack Barham at the Hive to leave Daggers at the foot of the table still searching for their first win of the season.
Manager Peter Taylor made three changes to the side who lost 1-2 to Hartlepool United on the weekend as Gavin Hoyte, Lamar Reynolds and Noel Leighton comes in to replace Tomi Adeloye, Luke Pennell and Harry Donovan.
While, former Daggers boss John Still in the opposite dugout made just one change from their 1-0 victory against Chesterfield as Jack Taylor came in to replace Ephron Mason-Clark, who was dropped to the bench.
The visitors got off to a dream start when Noel Leighton brought the ball down and played a great ball over the top for Elliott Romain.
Romain drilled a shot past former team-mate Mark Cousins to open the scoring inside the first minute and give his side the lead.
In the 13th minute it looked as though it could have been two when Lamar Reynolds found himself one-on-one with Cousins but the attacker was denied from close range.
Shortly after the hosts grew into the match and in the 22nd minute striker Jack Barcham let fly and sent a shot just wide of the post after a hold-up play from Byron Harrison.
The Bees kept pushing forward and this time it was Jack Taylor with an effort but his shot went over the bar after being given the opportunity to break after a mistake from Gavin Hoyte.
In the 31st minute, there was drama as Barnet appealed for a red card as Justham handled the ball outside the area after a mix up between the shot-stopper and defender Hoyte.
The 28-year-old was given a yellow card and the Bees were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box but Taylor fired it straight at the wall.
After pushing on the hosts Wesley Fonguck then drilled a shot goalbound Robinson gave the ball away cheaply but Justham got down well to make the save.
Barnet’s Taylor then shot across the goal and beat Justham, but Ben Goodliffe was there to block his effort on the line.
But in the 42nd minute Still’s side levelled the score when Fonguck and Harrison played a one two with the earlier breaking through the defence on the left side and slotted into the bottom right corner.
Both sides came out the blocks looking to get the next goal and Daggers almost did that in the 52nd minute when Cousins was forced to tip a Will Wright volley from the edge of the box out for a corner.
But it was the Bees who eventually did take the lead as striker Jack Barham drilled a fantastic half-volley past Justham and into the top right corner to give his side a 2-1 lead.
In the 84th minute Daggers should have made it 2-2 when substitute Tomi Adeloye was free in front of the goal and headed the ball wide from close range.
Adeloye had another huge chance in the final minute of the match but he headed the ball into the hands of Cousins after Gordon whipped the ball in for the striker.
Another chance in the dying stages as fellow substitute Chike Kandi found a shooting lane but was denied by Cousins.
