Dagenham & Redbridge boss Peter Taylor has secured his third summer signing with the addition of left-back Ollie Harfield on a one year deal ahead of the 2018/19 National League season.

The 20-year-old joins from Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth after spending the second half of last campaign on loan at National League rivals Boreham Wood where he worked with Daggers assistant manager Terry Harris.

Harfield signed his first professional contract at the Premier League club in 2015/16 but failed to make a first-team appearance after previously spending seven years with Southampton.

He spent majority of his time at the Cherries playing for their under-21s side before being sent out on loan as he also played the first half of last season for National League South outfit Poole Town.

“I’ve really enjoyed it, we had our first day, we did a bit of running and I got to know the lads, we have bonded well already so really looking forward to it,” Harfield said.

“It has been a difficult time for the Club, so we are just looking forward to get playing now and not to worry about the off the field things and just get ready to play the games.”

Terry Harris gave his thoughts on the new Daggers signing who he previously met at Boreham Wood: “Ollie is technically very gifted, he came from Bournemouth while I was at Boreham Wood last season.

“He can play left-back, left wing-back or wide left. He is an excellent crosser of the ball and a young lad, who is looking to make his way in the game.

“At Boreham Wood he was slightly unfortunate that when he did come in, the side were doing well but he played a part in getting to Wembley and I’ve got high hopes for him.”
