Dagenham & Redbridge utility man Ollie Harfield feels they weren’t at the races as they fell to a 1-0 defeat to his former club Boreham Wood to crash out of the FA Cup.

A 45th minute goal from Jamal Fyfield secured Wood’s progress into the first round where they will meet National League North side Southport.

“We’re really disappointed; we weren’t on it today from the start,” the 20-year-old said.

“It’s just a massive disappointment to go out of the cup, it’s a tough time, but we’ve just got to keep trying.”

The former AFC Bournemouth youngster spent a spell on loan at the Hertfordshire club last term and did it admit it was nice to see some familar faces.

But also that the Daggers must pick out the positives and keep their heads up.

“Definitely, shame we weren’t on the winning side, but it’s always nice to see a few old faces.

“We’ve got to keep picking positives out of what we can, we’ve got to keep working and looking forward, we can’t feel sorry for ourselves.

“We’ve got to pick ourselves up and go again.”

Harfield has been used across multiple positions this season so far and he did reveal that he doesn’t mind where he plays.

“Not really, I’m just happy to be out on the pitch that’s the main thing, and I’ll try do a job wherever I am.”
