Dagenham & Redbridge are on the lookout for a new manager following John Still’s decision to resign last Thursday, before joining National League rivals Barnet a day later.

The Essex club will hope to have a new man in place in the coming weeks to ensure pre-season preparations are not affected.

The next appointment is one of the most crucial in the Victoria Road outfit’s relatively short history, and we take a look at those in contention for the role.

Darren Currie

The Daggers assistant manager looks to be the current favourite for the role. Managing director Steve Thompson confirmed last week that talks were set to take place with the former Bright & Hove Albion winger, though did not specify if they were about the managerial vacancy.

Like Currie, is currently on the coaching staff with Daggers and knows the squad well. However, has no real previous experience in management to speak of, which may count against the ex-Leicester City man.

Micah Hyde

The current academy manager for Daggers, which may help given the Essex club are expected to field a number of their youngsters next term. Last season, the former Watford midfielder guided the under-18s to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup for the first time in the club’s history.

Currently out of work, the former Torquay United boss is understood to be interested in the Daggers post. Worked in difficult financial circumstances with the Gulls, so that might stand him in good stead for the job with the Essex club.

Anwar Uddin

Perhaps a little left-field, but a Daggers legend who has enjoyed success in his fledgling managerial career to date. Earned praise for his work with Sporting Bengal United in the Essex Senior League in the 2015/16 season, and enjoyed a solid campaign with Glebe last term.
