Game called off because of a waterlogged pitch

Dagenham & Redbridge have seen their trip to Halifax Town in the National League postponed after the pitch at The Shay failed a late pitch inspection.

Owing to heavy rain in the hours before kick-off, the pitch in Yorkshire was deemed unplayable because of a waterlogged pitch.

The decision to call the game off so close to kick-off is likely to infuriate Daggers boss John Still, as well as the fans who had travelled up for the game.

It is not the first time a game at The Shay has been called off at short notice, with Leyton Orient suffering a similar fate on their trip to Halifax last month.

At the time of writing, there is no scheduled date for the rearranged fixture for the game at The Shay.

Daggers will hope for better luck with the weather next Saturday when they host Aldershot Town in a game to be shown live on BT Sport.
