Staff claim Havering Cup honours

Bower Park staff were celebrating (above) after beating Albany in the final of the Havering Cup.

Park raced into a 4-1 lead in the first half, but Albany closed the gap to a single goal after the restart and it was 6-5 with a couple of minutes remaining.

Albany’s hopes of forcing extra time where shattered, though, when Park netted their seventh goal with the last kick of the match.

Tam Erisen received the trophy from official Josh O’Sullivan and said: “The competition was a good idea to help teachers and schools come together and get healthy and active.

“It also inspired several of our students to do better at school so they could watch the final.”

The borough hope to run the same competition during this academic year and are looking to raise money for local charities.
