Danny Marshall became the highest points scorer in the history of Romford Raiders last night.
Current player-coach Marshall, 33, earned an assist on Frankie Harvey’s shorthanded goal, which cancelled out Bracknell’s early lead at Rom Valley Way, to pass Gord Jeffrey’s total of 1,231.
Marshall had drawn level with the long-standing mark in a 2-2 draw in Bracknell the night before, after netting a goal and an assist, as Harvey’s last-gasp strike saved Raiders from defeat.
And the pair combined again in historic fashion as Marshall broke up the right wing and saw his shot saved by David Wride, before Harvey converted the rebound.
Adam Smith gave Romford a 2-1 lead at the first break, but Hornets hit back with a penalty shot in the middle session to set up a tense finale.
Captain Anthony Leone restored the Raiders lead early in the third period and Marshall, who was making his 752nd appearance for the club, added an empty-net goal to round off a 4-2 win and take his Raiders career tally to 1,233 points.
