Harold Wood want to end winless run this weekend

Harold Wood host Premier Division high-flyers Brentwood tomorrow (Saturday) and Richard Brabner knows the hosts will face a tough task to win.

Wood put in arguably their best performance of the season so far to draw at South Woodford after being bowled out for 263.

Their next assignment, though, is against a team currently third in the table and Brabner is aware of the talent Brentwood possess.

“They are packed full of players who are very gifted and they are strong from one to 11,” he said. “But we’re in the same division as them so why can’t we beat them?

“Of course it will be difficult, but we remain as confident as ever.”

The weekend also sees the start of the 50-over matches, which Brabner hopes will mark a change in fortunes for Wood, who are yet to win in the league this season.

“Our performances have been pretty good. We’ve had opportunities to win and it’s frustrating we haven’t taken them,” he added.

“We did well with the bat and ball at South Woodford so that will gives us confidence going into this weekend.

“Brentwood are a good side, but on our day we know we can beat anyone.”
