Upminster make it seven on the spin

Upminster secured their seventh consecutive victory in the Shepherd Neame Essex League Division One when they beat league leaders Hutton by eight wickets.

The leaders won the toss and elected to bat first by the duo of John Curtis and Ejaz Khan caused problems for Daniel Hagger’s batsmen as they bowled them out for 49.

Curtis (4-27) and Khan (6-21) didn’t waste anytime at Upminster Park and put their side in control early on in the game.

In reply, Upminster didn’t get off to the most of impressive starts, opener Farid Butt (11) was caught out by Tom Patterson.

Kiran Kullar (8 not out) held strong while Shafiq Rahman came in to replace Butt and was caught out for 1.

Shahbaz Butt (19 n/o) then dug in by hitting a four and two sixs to get his side comfortably over the line with a score of 53 for 2.
