Upminster fell to a heavy defeat at on their return to Essex League Premier Division action.

Captain Matt Tigg chose to bat first after winning the toss, but the move backfired as James Evans and Frankie Hazle fell cheaply to Ryan Harris.

Alex Kirkpatrick was trapped lbw by Matt Smith, who also accounted for Julian Whetstone, and Louis Pickering became the third victim of Harris to leave Upminster five down.

Shahbaz Butt (33) held firm at one end, but the middle and lower order was then blown away by Mathew Dzodzos (5-36), with Shafiq Rahman (23) also falling victim as Upminster were dismissed for just 110 in 43 overs.

Chingford had few problems chasing their target, with Ben MacGregor hitting an unbeaten 72 to see them home with nine wickets to spare in only 19 overs.

John Curtis claimed the only wicket to fall but it was no consolation to well-beaten Upminster.
