Dean Skipper produced a stunning last over to help Hornchurch seconds into the final of the Essex Cricket Foundation T20 Cup on Sunday.

Paul Murray (40) and Bharj Singh (54) top scored as Hornchurch made 133-6 in their semi-final against Goresbrook.

But their rivals were left needing just seven runs from the final over, when Skipper stepped up and bowled a wide with his first delivery.

Skipper hit the stumps with his next ball, then Goresbrook suffered a run out while attempting a second run.

The third legitimate ball of the over yielded two runs, but then Skipper hit the stumps again and claimed his third wicket of the over courtesy of an lbw decision.

Goresbrook lost a fifth wicket when suffering another run out and closed on 131-9, losing by two runs.

Skipper finished with 3-22, while Ed Smith nabbed 2-27, and Hornchurch will now meet neighbours Hornchurch Athletic – who beat them in the earlier group stage of the competition – at Billericay on Sunday.

Athletic had dismissed Mid-Essex League rivals Rainham for 107 on Friday on their way to a six-wicket win.
