Shenfield got back to winning ways in the Essex League Premier Division against Colchester at Castle Park.

Stand-in captain Ryan Plom chose to bat after winning the toss, but Harsh Kumar fell cheaply before Jack Potticary put on 114 with Elliott Richtor (63).

Opener Potticary hit a six and four fours in his 75 and his departure was quickly followed by the dismissals of Jack Plom and Tom Ballington to leave the visitors 183-8.

Ryan Plom and Richard Abson-Bennett (21) put on 47 for the ninth wicket, though, to help Shenfield reach 236 and Jack Plom then reduced the hosts to 34-4 on his way to a 4-38 haul.

Richtor also got in on the act to claim the fifth wicket with the total on 64, but Jack Crace (51) and Ollie Lovejoy (50) rallied, but Dominic Watts made the breakthrough to leave Colchester 136-6.

Kumar (4-20) then ran through the lower order to clinch a 35-run win in the 47th over.
