Shenfield earned the Shepherd Neame Essex League Premier Division bragging rights with a convincing derby win over Billericay.

Captain Jack Kliber (23) chose to bat after winning the toss and put on 48 for the first wicket with Jack Potticary before Andy Smith made the breakthrough.

Potticary fell to Adam Marchant soon after, with Shenfield then losing four wickets for just one run to find themselves 90-6. Robert Rayner struck three times in that spell and added another scalp with the total on 99, but Arshad Ali led a fightback with a whirlwind half-century.

Ali hit four sixes and seven fours in his 55 off just 26 balls, dominating a 58-run stand with Mitchell Edwards, before succumbing to David Houghton (2-37).

Ross Poulton (2-8) took the last two wickets to fall as Shenfield were all out for 177 in the 30th over, but it proved more than enough.

England under-19 international Jack Plom (3-28) struck early in Billericay’s reply and picked up two more scalps to leave the visitors 43-3.

Charlie Haddon (3-12) got in on the act with a quickfire treble, before Edwards (2-2) nabbed a brace to skittle Billericay for just 65.
