Campion’s cricketers completed a Havering Cup double with victory over Marshalls Park in the year eight final yesterday.

Park were in their second successive final and saw Hamdan Usman Khan and player of the season Jonathon Ashlin produce fine spells to check Campion’s scoring rate.

Both took wickets to dismiss dangerous batsmen as Campion made 112 from their 20 overs, but the duo then succumbed to a good attack in Park’s reply.

Zuhair Usman Khan kept Park ticking along with a score of 18, but Campion ended up winning by a 32-run margin.

Park’s assistant head of PE Paul Aylett said: “The lads have been great this year and to reach another final was fantastic. I am very proud of the team and hope we can go the extra mile next year.”

Campion’s year seven squad had been crowned borough champions on Monday, scoring 123-5 and then holding Hall Mead to 105-6 in reply.
