Hutton maintained their fine form and a 50-point lead at the top of the shepherd Neame Essex League Division One table with a comfortable victory over Belhus.

The visitors chose to bat first at the Polo Field Ground but Jonathan Mowll struck early with the new ball and Tom Patterson nabbed a brace of wickets to reduce them to 41-3.

Matt Doran (89) and former Essex staffer Max Osborne put on 148 for the fourth wicket, before Joseph Parry broke their stand, and Vivian Paver (2-46) got in on the act before Connor Whetstone (2-40) and Patterson (3-35) combined to dismiss Belhus for 274.

Australian all-rounder Paver put on 64 for the first Hutton wicket with Cameron Tredgett and another 197 with Julian Whestone, before falling for a stunning 197 off just 108 balls.

Paver hit 11 sixes and 23 fours in his latest effort, while Whetstone hit a six and seven fours in his 52 from 63 balls to take Hutton to the brink of a seven-wicket win in just 33 overs.
