Old Brentwoods sealed the Shepherd Neame Essex League Division Three title in style with a comfortable win over Basildon.

Having put the visitors into bat they saw Mo Amin strike early with the new ball with only nine runs on the board.

Amin (3-55) then ended a 71-run stand for the second wicket and claimed another scalp soon after to leave Basildon 86-3.

Khalid Sarwar (2-26) got in on the act with a quick double, with Awais Sadaqat also having success to leave the visitors 137-6.

Baber Choudhary (2-19) and Arsalan Khan (2-26) combined to wrap up the innings on 189 but Brentwoods lost Nazim Hussain for a duck in reply.

Ramesh Gunalan hit seven fours in a run-a-ball 37 and put on 64 with captain Choudhary, who hit two sixes and six fours in his 62 off 63 balls and put on 58 with Sarwar.

An unbroken 66-run stand for the fourth wicket saw Brentwoods to their target in the 32nd over, with Sarwar hitting a six and eight fours in his 67 off 65 balls and getting support from Abid Alaracu.

A 15th win in 17 outings this season left unbeaten Brentwoods 52 points clear of Benfleet at the top of the table with one game remaining.
