Old Brentwoods had to settle for a draw after being frustrated by Epping in their latest Shepherd Neame Essex League Division Three outing.

The hosts chose to bat after winning the toss, but slipped to 75-5 as Javed Iqbal claimed three of his five wickets early on.

Abid Alaracu (37) was the only top-order batsman to make much impact, but Minhaz Bhad and Ayaz Qureshi put on 102 for the sixth wicket, before the latter fell one run short of a half-century.

Bhad went on to score 57 off 93 balls, with the tailenders helping to lift the total to 227 before Iqbal (5-52) ended the innings.

Raheel Ahmed and Baber Choudhary claimed early wickets in reply, with Bhad and Arsalan Khan getting in on the act to reduce Epping to 90-4.

But visiting captain Ahsan Akbar (63) held up Brentwoods for long enough, before finally falling to Khalid Sarwar as his side closed on 165-5 from 49 overs.
