Navestock beat T-Rippon Mid-Essex League Division Four leaders Rankins from the penultimate ball after a thriling contest.

Ryan Scott made the breakthrough with the ball and Matt Simmons (2-27) nabbed a brace as the hosts were held to 186-5 on a good pitch.

Kieron Scott (25) and Jono Enderby (17) put on 45 for the first Navestock wicket, before the visitors slipped to 86-5.

And Matt Richards produced a superb unbeaten half-century, after Navestock were left needing nine runs an over at 127-6, to seal a two-wicket win with one ball to spare.

Richards (66 not out) had support from Ryan Scott and Tom Greaves, who needed a runner in the final over.

The unbeaten seconds stormed to a 204-run win over St John’s Billericay to move 28 points clear at the top of the table.

Unbeaten centuries from Matt Dilworth (138 not out) and Phil Sergeant (111 not out) in an unbroken stand of 255 helped them recover from 19-2, before Jack Gildersleeve (4-13) and Keith Mitchell (4-16) combined with the ball.
