Wood recorded a four-wicket win on the road in Shepherd Neame Essex League Division One

Craig Perrin believes Harold Wood delivered a strong all-round display to win by four wickets at Hainault & Clayhall in Shepherd Neame Essex League Division One.

Bowling first, figures of 4-36 from Taqi Abbas saw Wood restrict their hosts to 242-9 from their 50 overs.

In reply, Isalm Shihan (68), Raihan Hussain (56) and Christopher Bennett (55) all hit half centuries as Wood completed their chase with six overs to spare.

The win saw Wood keep the pressure on the top two in the division, and skipper Perrin was pleased with what he saw from the squad.

“It was a very good team display against Hainault and it was important to get that in our first 50 over game of the season,” said the wicketkeeper.

“We bowled well through the Hainault innings and did well to keep them below 245 as I though around 280 was a part score on that wicket.

“It was a comfortable chase in the end and we had some good displays with the bat.”
