Harold Wood ease past Gidea Park & Romford

Harold Wood were convincing winners of their Shepherd Neame Essex League Division One derby with Gidea Park & Romford.

Shahbaz Khan (2-26) struck two early blows with the new ball, before Park captain Jamal Francis fell to the returning Richard Brabner (2-20) for a quickfire 24, having hit a six and four fours.

Sam Hewitt also looked to attack, hitting three boundaries before being bowled by Taqi Abbas (3-28), who picked up two more wickets soon after.

Opener James Pegram battled for 103 minutes to reach 21 off 69 balls before he was dismissed by Wasim Khalid (2-11) as Park were dismissed for 109 in the 42nd over.

Wood lost Hafiz Yawar Afzal to Hewitt early in reply, but Raihan Hussain hit five fours in his 25 and Khan added a six and three boundaries in his 25 off 23 balls.

Both fell to Sadiqullah Kamal (2-30), but Wood captain Craig Perrin saw his side to a seven-wicket win inside 23 overs, finishing unbeaten on 47 after hitting nine fours in his 60-ball innings.
