Gidea Park & Romford (120-5) beat Harold Wood (119 a/o) by five wickets

Gidea Park & Romford boosted their survival hopes in the Essex League Division One with a five-wicket win over rivals Harold Wood.

Jamal Francis won the toss and put Borough foes Wood into bat first and saw the visitors dismissed for 119.

Wicket-keeper Mdaminul Isalm Shihan top scored for the away side with 35, but Sam Hewitt (2-58), Sam O’Sullivan (3-18), Francis (2-22) and Adam McKie (2-20) caused havoc at Gallows Corner.

George Rogers added 22 at number three and Francis’ team reached their target in the 38th over.

Stand-in Wood skipper Shahbaz Khan claimed 2-15 from 9.2 overs, but his side have dropped to sixth in the table while Park are eighth and above the relegation zone by 12 points.
