GPR recorded a 27-run victory at home to Orsett last Saturday

Gidea Park & Romford know victory at Colchester & East Essex on Saturday will see them remain in Shepherd Neame Essex League Division One next season.

Park head into the final round of matches six points clear of the relegation zone having won by 27 runs at home to bottom club Orsett last weekend.

GPR made the most of electing to bat first, with an opening stand of 122 between Russell Collard (101) and Sam Hewitt (68) seeing the hosts close on 227-4.

With the ball, Hewitt (4-31) and skipper Jamal Francis (4-65) ripped through the Orsett line-up to dismiss the visitors for 200 in reply.

It was a vital success for Park as it lifted them out of the bottom two ahead of what should be a crucial weekend in the league.

There are a number of different results that could see Park remain in the division, but a victory at Colchester on Saturday would negate the need for their rivals to slip up elsewhere.
