Shenfield held off Premier Division rivals Ilford for victory at Valentines Park to finish in fourth place.

Put into bat, they lost captain Jack Kliber and fellow opener Arshad Ali to ducks, as Theeban Tavarasa struck with the new ball.

And Ollie Ekers followed soon after to Haaris Ayub (2-27), who also dismissed Tom Ballington after Tavarasa had sent Jack Potticary back to the pavilion to leave the visitors in deep trouble at 28-5.

England under-19 Jack Plom (24) put on 56 with Jamie Walton, who hit five fours in his 92-ball 55.

And Tom Austin added an unbeaten 39 to lift the total to 156, as Tavarasa finished with 5-10 for the hosts and Akash Raji nabbed 2-29.

Ilford saw their top three dismissed without scoring, though, as Austin struck twice and Oliver Castell also had success to leave them 4-3.

Austin (3-27) struck again with the total on 16 and Charlie Haddon dismissed Shahzad Hafeez (29), before Tom Ballington got in on the act to make it 53-6.

Ayub held firm to score 51 from 125 balls and put on 68 with Hamza Muhammad, who was left unbeaten on 34 as Ballington (3-17) sealed a four-run win for Shenfield.
