Hutton were knocked off the top of the Essex League Division Two table after losing to Horndon.

Put into bat by the hosts, Hutton slumped to 10-4 as openers Cameron Tredgett and captain Chris Steinberg fell cheaply, before Usman Jan and Vivian Paver were dismissed for ducks three balls apart.

Alex Tredgett (34) and James Mowll (35) steadied the ship with a 78-run stand, but they were the only Hutton batsmen to reach double figures as the visitors were dismissed for 115 in 40 overs.

Horndon skipper Jeff West finished with 5-23, but Jon Hammond claimed two early wickets in reply.

Muhammad Asif held firm for the home side and had support from Scott Plom (23) and West (29), before Jonathan Mowll and Alex Tredgett (2-13) got in on the act with three wickets.

Those successes proved little consolation, though, as Asif (42 not out) sealed a five-wicket win in the 17th over as Hutton were replaced at the summit by rivals Hainault.
