Captain Craig Perrin put the visitors into bat and saw Shahbaz Khan dismiss Tanveer Shah cheaply, before Taqi Abbas removed Hywel Jones without scoring.

But Joe Johnson (57) put on 89 with Gareth James before also falling to Abbas (2-59), with Chris Hall (27) helping to take the Wells total to 154-3 before he was run out.

Wells skipper Jonathan Gaffney fell cheaply to Richard Brabner, with James departing for 60 as the visitors were eventually dismissed for 199.

Brabner (4-28) proved the pick of Wood’s attack, before Raihan Hussain and Hafiz Yawar Afzal put on 131 for the first wicket in reply.

Hussain hit two sixes and nine fours in his 74 from 73 balls before being dismissed by Gaffney, who held on to a return catch off his own bowling to send Perrin back to the pavilion soon after.

But Afzal saw Wood to their target in the 38th over, finishing unbeaten on 96 from 115 balls after hitting two sixes and 13 fours.
