Harold Wood ended the Division One season in fifth place after a final-day win at promotion hopefuls Orsett.

Captain Richard Brabner chose to bat after winning the toss and saw Mdaminul Isalm Shihan (36) put on 62 with Malik Ali.

Wood slipped to 105-5 after Ali was dismissed for 51, but Kamran Khan held firm to score an unbeaten 56 from 50 balls, including four sixes and two fours.

The visitors closed on 195-9 and Khan struck two early blows in the Orsett reply, which was twice interrupted by rain.

Hamzah Ikram also had success to reduce the hosts to 29-3, before Adeel Khalid got in on the act with a pair of wickets.

Nawaz Ahmad Jan scored 78 off 89 balls for Orsett, with 10 fours, as Brabner and Maruf Chowdhury (2-40) picked up further wickets for Wood, but fell to Khalid (3-38) as the visitors clinched an eight-run win.

Defeat left Orsett in third place, as Hadleigh and Billericay were promoted.
