Ardleigh Green ended up well beaten by Walthamstow in their latest Essex League Division Three outing at Central Park.

The visitors chose to bat first after winning the toss and made a challenging 235-6 from their 50 overs.

Zunair Jamil (3-31) had the most success with the ball for Green, while Paul Hurworth held on to three catches, as half-centuries from Richard Baughen (77) and Ben Smith (56) led the way for the visitors.

Opener Hurworth led the way in reply for Green with a half-century of his own, but several other home batsmen got out after making starts.

Five reached double figures, but Sanjay Dindyal (15) was the second-highest scorer behind Hurworth as Green were dismissed for 172 in the 33rd over.

Christian Moffat (3-25) was the pick of Walthamstow’s bowling, as a sixth defeat of the season left Green in sixth place in a congested mid-table.

Chris Cook’s men visit Benfleet next weekend.
