Patel, 20, has been in prolific form for the 2nd XI this season and equalled Darren Robinson’s record of five centuries in a Championship season.

He was rewarded for his performances by being selected to face India in the Tour match in July, scoring 19 runs and catching out Hardik Pandya.

And he is thrilled to sign his first contract, saying: “I’m really excited to be part of such a great club and sign for the side that I have been involved with since I was seven years old.

“I’m extremely thankful to the coaching staff that have helped me achieve my dreams of becoming a professional and I’d like to thank my parents who have supported me throughout this journey and have been there every step of the way.”

Snater, 22, featured three times for Essex Eagles in the Royal London One-Day Cup, taking five wickets at an average of 26.80, and also played int he T20 Vitality Blast.

He will remain at the club until the end of the 2019 campaign and said: “I’m really happy to have signed my first professional contract with Essex. I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far and hopefully I can push on next year, make a further impression and play as many games as possible.

“I’m extremely thankful for the opportunity and I’m excited to see what the future holds for me at the club.”

Wicketkeeper-batsman Pepper, 20, signed a summer contract back in April and featured in the T20 Blast and County Championship.

And he is delighted to commit his future to the club until the end of the 2020 campaign, saying: “I’m really excited to sign a two-year deal at such a great club.

“I made my first-class debut against Somerset a few months back and I’m really looking forward to pressing on, improving as a player and making more appearances over the next few years.”

Head coach Anthony McGrath is pleased to see Pepper commit his future, adding: “Michael is a great young wicket-keeper who is also very handy with a bat. He has heaps of talent and we’re excited about seeing him progress at the club.”
