Captain hopes Green can bounce back following defeat last weekend

Ardleigh Green captain Chris Cook is confident they can keep their promotion hopes alive in Essex League Division Three with a win at Stanford this weekend.

After a 106-run loss to Epping, Green are 32 points off the top two, but Cook believes they can still return to Division Two at the first attempt.

“It’s quite tight at the top of the league and it only takes a couple of wins to get up there. There’s still five games left in the 50-over matches, so we’re looking to win at least three,” said Cook.

“We had a bad game last week, but the way our season has been going we normally bounce back after a bad game.

“We’re up to full strength, so hopefully Muhammad (Asif) can get a few more wickets. He’s been going good all year.”

The club hosted an open day last weekend, which proved to be a great success for all involved.

Green were able to raise £1,000 for charity, while also opening their doors in a bid to widen their profile in the local community.
