Under-13s land David Bradford title

Upminster under-13s were the toast of the club after winning the David Bradford Cup.

Wanstead’s openers put on 30 before Matt Ashby made the breakthrough.

Wickets fell at regular intervals after that in a good all-round bowling display by Upminster, with Frankie Hazle picking up three.

Wicketkeeper James Brooks completed an excellent stumping off the bowling of James Spurr and there were also two run outs as Wanstead were dismissed for 87.

Hazle and Oliver Heazel shared a good stand, with Heazel hitting a six and four fours before retiring on 30.

But Upminster suffered a mid-innings wobble, losing four wickets for nine runs before Harjas Sagoo and Luke Charlette saw them to a five-wicket win with five overs to spare.

Manager Craig Chuter said: “The sixth wicket partnership between Harjas and Luke sums us up really.

“It is our strength in depth that has won this for us, batting right down to no.11.”
