Bentley gave their hopes of retaining the T-Rippon Mid-Essex League Premier Division title a boost with a convincing win over Brookweald.

Put into bat, they piled up 361-7 as Aaron Alee (108) and Chris Pether (103) shone.

Five catches went down in Brookweald’s reply, but a fine spell from spinner Ash Parmenter (5-35) saw the visitors dismissed for 200, as leaders Springfield lost to Rainham to throw the title race wide open.

Bentley seconds dismissed Tillingham for 135 in Division One, as Nick Binnell (4-25) and Sam Crispin (2-17) did well with the ball.

Lewis Snell (38 not out) and James Sapwell (28) top scored as the visitors got home with two wickets to spare.

The thirds suffered another loss in Division Six, after dismissing Eastwood seconds for 264.

Young Amar Patel (3-13) and Martin Smith (2-16) had the best bowling for Bentley, who saw Callum Smith (55 not out) and Grant McDonald (44) top score in their 159-5 in reply.
