Rivals to meet in T20 decider

Essex T20

Wednesday (5.30pm)

Upminster v Harold Wood

It’s winner-takes-all at Upminster Park this evening as these two rivals meet in a group decider.

Harold Wood’s win over Gidea Park & Romford last Thursday leaves them and Upminster with perfect 3-0 records going into the last match in Group A.

The two sides have already met in Essex League Division One and cup action this season, with Upminster coming out on top on both occasions.

New Zealander Jimmy Neesham hit an unbeaten century to steer them to a nine-wicket win in the cup and Alan Ison fell one run short of another ton in an eight-wicket league success.

Both sides go into tonight’s action on the back of weekend defeats, after Upminster fell to a six-wicket loss against Hornchurch and Harold Wood went down by five wickets against Fives.

But there should be no shortage of excitement with a quarter-final place on the line, with the victors travelling to the winner of Friday’s Orsett versus Ardleigh Green clash in the last eight.

Latest forecasts suggest morning showers in the RM14 post code should give way to a sunny afternoon and evening, allowing for play to start on time.
