Second half of season begins
SNEL Premier Division
Buckhurst Hill v Ardleigh Green
Green have got it all to do in the second half of the season if they are to survive in the top flight.
Chris Cook’s men have managed just one win in nine matches so far this summer, following a heavy defeat at table-topping Chelmsford last weekend.
Shot out for just 90, as their last five wickets fell without any addition to their total, Green are 43 points adrift of safety.
Hill, meanwhile, have been making good progress since promotion last year and currently occupy fourth place.
Fives v Upminster
Ollie Peck’s Upminster saw their clash at Orsett washed out last weekend.
But it did not affect their promotion hopes too much as rivals Hadleigh are only point ahead of them in second place.
Mid-table Fives will not have ruled out their chances yet, though, and have some dangerous performers among their ranks.
Loughton v Hornchurch
Despite beating the wet weather to play against bottom club Southend last weekend, struggling Hornchurch could only manage a rain-affected draw.
It ended a run of five successive defeats at least for captain Chris Sains and his men, but they need to add to those two wins secured in the early weeks of the season.
Success at fellow strugglers Loughton this weekend would be a good start and could lift them out of the bottom two.
Harold Wood v Gidea Park & Romford
Wood came out on top when these two sides met in the first derby of the season at Gallows Corner.
But their hopes of completing a double will be reliant on an improvement to the weather.
Captain Tom Clarke revealed the pitch had been under water at the start of the week, leading to the cancellation of their Essex T20 quarter-final with Wanstead in midweek.
All will be praying for a better forecast in the next 24 hours to increase chances of playing.
