Park moved to within six points of safety thanks to triumph

Gidea Park captain Jamal Francis hailed his team’s three-wicket win at Belhus as one of their most vital so far this season in Essex Division One.

After electing to field, Park restricted their hosts to 205-8 from their 50 overs as Zisan Abedin finished with figures of 3-18.

Opener Kasi Hoq anchored the reply for Park with a top score of 54 as they completed the chase with three balls to spare.

Victory saw Park move to within six points of Belhus, who are now just one place above Francis’ men, but crucially outside of the bottom two.

And the Park captain was pleased to see his team deliver in what could prove to be a crucial game come the end of the season.

“It was an important game for us and thankfully it all came together brilliantly,” said Francis.

“We knew before the game we could only control what we did, but we did well and we were pleased to get the win.”
