Brentwood captain Aaron West praised his side after sealing a 35 run victory against Swardeston in the fourth round of the ECB National Club Championship last weekend.
The victory means they’ll progress through the last 16 of the competition where they will meet Peterborough Town next month.
Skipper West won the toss and elected to bat first and his opening three batsmen including himself, Rishi Patel and Will Buttleman were all out on single figures.
Later down the order Tom Oakley (41), Harry Hobson (57) and Ben Allison (58 n/o) were the stand-out performers and guided Brentwood to a score of 186 for 8.
In reply, Swardeston struggled up against the likes of Allison (4-16), Oakley (2-27) and Patel (2-19).
Eventually all being bowled out for 151.
“I think it was a really good win for the club as obviously Swardeston are a real quality side so to beat them was really pleasing,” West said.
“Ben’s performance was excellent, he took four wickets and got 58 not out, but I think it was also set-up by a lad who was making his first-team debut on the weekend called Harry Hobson.
“We were really under pressure at 40-4 and he come in and hit a quick 60 to give us a bit of momentum and put a big score on the board.”
West heaped special praise on Hobson and believes he has put himself in consideration for this weekend’s T20 Finals Day.
“Harry has actually been playing in our third team generally so for him to come up and do that in a first-team national game was quite exceptional.
“He’ll be in consideration for our T20 finals day this weekend now.”
