Charlie Griffiths (2-26) ended their stand to dismiss Philippe, with Tom Wingrove dismissing Wright to make it 71-5.

Will Buttleman (2-23) claimed the next two wickets to fall, with Southend still to reach three figures, before Ash Casey picked up a scalp.
