Ardleigh Green maintained their improving form in Shepherd Neame Essex League Division Three with a 227-run win over 10-man West Essex at Central Park.

The home side piled up a massive 436-7 from their 50 overs, thanks to centuries from Choudhry Mahboob and former captain Chris Cook.

Mahboob had made 122 in the previous weekend’s win over Stanford and after Paul Hurworth was dismissed for a duck, would share a 267-run stand with Cook on his way to 150.

Cook was dismissed for 101, before Alex Cason (79) put on 70 with James Duhig (22) and 53 with James Lavender.

Green’s imposing total was always beyond the visitors, who saw opening batsman Murad Ali top score in reply with 45.

Jamal Chaudhry (3-53) and Duhig (3-48) took three wickets apiece, with Sam Brooks (2-27) nabbing a brace as West Essex were dismissed for 209 in the 34th over.
