Old Brentwoods got the better of Walthamstow in their Shepherd Neame Essex League Division Three encounter at Buck Walk.

Captain Baber Choudhary chose to bat after winning the toss and put on 58 with Ramesh Gunalan (32) after Abid Alaracu fell cheaply.

Choudhary (46) added 61 with Khalid Sarwar, who hit nine fours in his 58 to see Brentwoods reach 188-4.

But once Sarwar fell, the visitors collapsed to 210 all out in 46 overs, with Minhaz Bhad the only other batsman in double figures.

Dipesh Patel (5-32) did most of the damage, but Ishaq Khan made the breakthrough with Walthamstow having reached 41 in reply.

Bhad and Choudhary (2-29) got in on the act as three wickets fell for four runs to leave the hosts 95-4, before Arsalan Khan (3-26) reduced Walthamstow to 137-7.

Opener Richard Baughen held firm until he had reached 83 from 147 balls and was bowled by Ishaq Khan (3-25), who rounded off a 24-run victory in the final over.
