Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa had a debut to remember as Brentwood beat Hornchurch in their Shepherd Neame Essex League Premier Division debut at Harrow Lodge.
Zampa, signed as an overseas player by county champions Essex, claimed six wickets as the home side were skittled for 64 in pursuit of a victory target of 211.
And his heroics with the ball came after he had scored 35 with the bat to support captain Aaron West (44), James Redwood (37 not out) and Rishi Patel (25) in helping Brentwood reach 210-8 declared.
Former England Test spinner Monty Panesar maintained his own good form with a 5-60 haul, as Mehad Khan (2-57) nabbed a brace from a 21-over spell.
But Hornchurch lost early wickets in reply as Anthony Giles and Ben Allison struck, before Zampa began to turn the screw.
Young opener Frankie Jacobs was the only home batsman to reach double figures as Zampa picked up 6-25, with Charlie Griffiths (2-12) helping to secure a convincing 146-run victory.
