Brentwood were comfortable winners over Shenfield in their Shepherd Neame Essex League Premier Division derby at the Old County Ground.

The visitors, fighting to avoid relegation, chose to bat after winning the toss but saw Mitchell Edwards fall to a first-ball duck to Ben Allison.

Jamie Walton followed soon after, with Alan Jones also failing to trouble the scorers as Allison (3-21) reduced Shenfield to 23-3.

Ash Casey got in on the act to dismiss Jack Potticary with the total on 40, before Brentwood captain Aaron West accounted for Tom Ballington.

Opener George Ballington (23) eventually fell to Charlie Griffiths to leave Shenfield 73-6, with Arshad Ali following two balls later and West (2-31) getting rid of James Salibury with no further addition to the total.

Griffiths (4-20) claimed the last two wickets as Shenfield were dismissed for 112 in the 30th over and Brentwood wasted little time in racing to a six-wicket victory.

Charlie Haddon dismissed Guy Balmford, but Rishi Patel put on 65 with West, hitting a six and three fours in his 28 off 23 balls.

West struck 12 fours in his rapid 54 off 23 deliveries, before Tom Oakley sealed victory in the 11th over.
