Billericay ended up well beaten by Hadleigh in their latest Shepherd Neame Essex League Premier Division outing.

Captain Lee Knight put the hosts into bat and saw Adam Marchant and Andy Smith strike early with the new ball to reduce them to 34-3.

Brandon Jacobs led a fightback, before he was bowled by Robert Rayner and Ross Poulton dismissed Adam Dobson for a duck to make it 103-5.

Adam Soilleux and Luke Smith both hit 60 as Hadleigh rallied to close on 228-9, with Smith (4-55) and Marchant (3-66) the pick of the Billericay bowling.

And the visitors weere soon trouble in their run chase as Dobson dismissed Saurav Prabhakar with only nine runs on the board, before Richard Revell removed Aaron Curtis and Darren Ironside to make it 19-3.

Essex staffer Paul Walter also fell to Revell with the score on 32, before Knight (23) and David Houghton steadied the ship.

Haider Ali Syed Zaidi ended their 40-run stand and picked up three more wickets, including that of Houghton (46) to secure a 101-run victory for the home side.
