A round-up of the latest matches involving Bentley CC teams

Bentley’s defence of their T. Rippon Mid-Essex Premier Division title suffered a blow with a 29-run defeat at Goresbrook, their second loss in a row.

The hosts elected to bat after winning the toss and made 250-4, with Matt Coleman the pick of the visiting bowlers after taking 1-35.

Bentley’s reply began well after a good opening partnership between Chris Pether (47) and Aaron Alee (35) got them going.

However, the wickets began to tumble after both openers departed which checked the visitors’ progress as they closed on 221-9 in reply.

Bentley will hope Saturday’s trip to Rayleigh yields a return to winning ways as they look to chase down leaders Springfield.

The second XI, meanwhile, suffered a three-wicket loss at home to Stock in Division One, despite Rhys Sprules scoring a fine 84.

In Division six, Bentley thirds lost by 107 runs at home to Hatfield Peverel, despite Sam Cripin’s 56.
