Ardleigh Green ended up well beaten by Walthamstow in their latest Shepherd Neame Essex League Division Three outing at Central Park.

The visitors chose to bat first, but James Duhig struck with the new ball to reduce them to 18-2.

But Ben Smith held firm for Stow, hitting 16 fours on his way to 106 from 131 balls before he was ninth man out in a total of 195.

Jamal Chaudhry (4-35), Trevor Oakley (3-45) and Duhig (3-43) shared the wickets for Green, who lost Tom Gentle to the first ball of their reply.

Adam Thain and Paul Hurworth followed soon after to leave the hosts 13-3, with Luke Edwards the next to fall with the total on 22.

Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, with the 36-run stand for the seventh wicket between James Lavender and Scott Jackson being the best of the innings.

Jackson hit seven fours in his top-scoring 34 as Green were dismissed for 116 in the 34th over, with Rory Knox (5-36) taking the bowling plaudits for Stow.
