Ardleigh Green came up well short of hosts Harlow Town in their latest Essex League Division Three outing.

The hosts chose to bat first, but Shawn Harvey struck an early blow with the new ball for Green.

It proved a false dawn for the visitors, though, as Ashley Alderson (66), Joe Holland (69) and Neil Gladwin (45) then made leading contributions to help Town post 249-8 from their 50 overs.

Zunair Jamil (3-44) took the bowling plaudits for Green, with Lloyd Edwards (2-45) nabbing a brace, but the visitors conceded 20 wides along the way.

Opener Alex Cason hit two sixes and seven fours on his way to 57 from 71 balls in reply, while James Duhig, captain Chris Cook and Paul Hurworth all got into double figures in a solid start.

But Jack Elston (6-40) ran through the line-up and lower-order contributions from James Lavender (29) and Harvey proved little consolation as Green were dismissed for 194 in the 42nd over.
