Ardleigh Green edged to a two-wicket win at Epping in their latest Shepherd Neame Essex League Division Three outing.

Captain Lloyd Edwards put the home side into bat at Lower Bury Lane and saw his four-man attack combine well to dismiss them for just 128 in 49 overs.

Jamal Chaudhry (3-26) and Chris Haylett (3-39) claimed three wickets each, as former skipper Chris Cook (2-21) and Scott Jackson (2-42) nabbed braces for the visitors.

But Green lost openers Tom Gentle and Paul Hurworth for a combined total of just two runs, before Adam Thain (22) and Alex Cason got them on course.

Club stalwart Cook held firm at one end as Aswad Mohammed (4-33) made inroads into the battling line-up, withh Edwards and James Lavender also making it into double figures to keep Green’s hopes alive.

And Cook was unbeaten on 40 alongside number 10 Chaudhry as Green eventually reached their target in the 44th over.
