Ardleigh Green eased past Epping in their Shepherd Neame Essex League Division Three encounter at Central Park.

The visitors chose to bat first after winning the toss, but Scott Jackson (3-49) made early inroads with the new ball for Green.

And Zunair Jamiel (3-30) and Jamal Chaudhry (4-27) shared the other wickets to fall as Epping were dismissed for 148 in the 37th over.

The hosts lost Paul Hurworth cheaply in reply, with former captain Chris Cook also departing.

But opener Tom Gentle held firm and hit an unbeaten 80, with support from Adam Thain (32 not out) as Green completed an eight-wicket win in the 23rd over.

A sixth win of the season leaves Green in fifth place on 161 points, with five games remaining.

That sees them lying 51 points off the top two promotion places and Lloyd Edwards’ men are set to visit Walthamstow next weekend.
